Storm Damage: Document First, Call Second

When the wind takes shingles off your roof, the clock starts. Not just on the weather getting in, but on your insurance claim.

What Decides a Claim

After years of working storm jobs from Fontana to Hemet to Riverside, I can tell you the difference between claims that get paid and claims that get denied usually comes down to one word: documentation.

How It Actually Works

When a homeowner files a roof claim, the insurance company wants proof. Real proof: clear photos of the damage, what was hit, where, and how bad. Adjusters are trained to be skeptical, and an insurance company is not in a hurry to pay for anything it cannot verify. If the story is "some shingles came off, trust me," the claim struggles. If the file shows the damage in detail, photographed properly before anyone touched anything, the damage speaks for itself.

Why You Call the Roofer First

That is where we come in, and it is why I tell homeowners to call a roofer BEFORE the adjuster ever climbs a ladder. We inspect, we photograph everything the way insurance companies expect to see it, and we put a written estimate in place so there is a professional scope on record. More than once, an insurance company has come straight to us asking what we saw and whether we have pictures, and because we document every job properly, the answer is always yes. That is how legitimate damage gets the coverage the homeowner already paid premiums for.

Two Honest Notes

First, not every storm scuff is a claim. If the damage is small, a repair out of pocket can beat a claim on your record, and we will tell you which side of that line you are on. Second, be careful with storm chasers who blow into town after big wind promising free roofs. If someone wants you to sign an assignment of your claim on their clipboard in your driveway, slow down and get a second opinion. Our storm damage service starts with the truth, not a sales pitch.

Wind Got Your Roof?

Get it documented the same week. We will build the file your claim deserves, and tell you honestly if it is not worth filing.
