Your Local Roofer
in Etiwanda
Etiwanda is not its own city. It is one of the three communities, along with Alta Loma and Cucamonga, that voted in 1977 to become Rancho Cucamonga, and it makes up the east side of town, running north up to the foothills. We are based in Rancho Cucamonga, so Etiwanda is close to home for us. It also means your permit comes from the City of Rancho Cucamonga, and the city's roofing rules are the ones your roof has to meet.
We're a family-owned C39 licensed roofing contractor based in Rancho Cucamonga. Our team handles every estimate and project-manages every job from start to finish. You always have a direct line to us with any question, before, during, or after the work is done. Free in-home estimates. There's a pitch, but we're not going to sit at your house for three hours and grind you down.
What Etiwanda Roofs Deal With
Wind. Santa Ana winds hit this side of town hard. On April 30, 2014, the Etiwanda Fire started in the foothills above town and burned more than 2,000 acres, pushed by Santa Ana gusts. Wind lifts shingles and loosens tile, usually starting at the edges, hips and ridges. On a tile roof, the underlayment is what keeps water out and the fasteners are what hold the tile down, and out here both have to be right.
Fire. Parts of north Etiwanda near the foothills are mapped by the state as a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. Rancho Cucamonga requires a Class A roof on a re-roof inside that zone, and at least Class B everywhere else in the city, which is already stricter than the state's Class C. Concrete tile and the shingle systems we install can carry a Class A rating as installed. You can check your address on the state's fire hazard map, or ask us at the estimate.
Permits. Roof work over 400 square feet on a house needs a full reroof permit, and the city counts a tile lift and relay inside that threshold. Changing the roof material from what the house was approved with also goes through Planning, not just Building. The details are on our Rancho Cucamonga page.
Tile Roofs in Etiwanda: Replace It or Relay It?
If your tile is intact and what failed is the underlayment under it, you very likely need a tile lift and relay: we lift the tile, replace the underlayment, and set the same tile back down. If the tile itself is done, cracked, chipped, or a profile nobody makes anymore, that is a tile replacement, and it is a bespoke job because you are choosing new tile. Eagle's showroom in Rialto is a short drive from Etiwanda, and we sometimes go with homeowners to see and handle tile before they pick. If someone quoted you all-new tile without checking whether yours can be reused, get a second look.
