I am a roofer in Rancho Cucamonga, so of course I think the answer is us. That and five dollars gets you a coffee. "Best" claims are free. Receipts are not. So instead of telling you we are the best, I am going to show you how to check any roofer in this city, including me. Run every contractor on your list through these five checks and the answer sorts itself out.

Every legitimate roofer in California carries a C39 license from the Contractors State License Board. Do not take the number printed on a flyer at face value. Go to cslb.ca.gov, click Check A License, and type it in. You are looking for four things: the license is active, the classification says C39, the bond is current, and workers compensation is on file. If any of those is missing, you are done with that contractor, no matter how good the price was.
Ours is C39 #1135657, and I would rather you look it up than believe me. The whole point of the system is that you do not have to take a roofer's word for anything.
Star ratings are the start, not the answer. When I read reviews on a competitor, and yes, we all do that, I look for three things. Are the reviews recent, or did they stop two years ago? Do reviewers name the actual work, a tile lift and relay, a full shingle replacement, a repair after the first rain, or is it all one-line "great service" posts? And does the owner respond like a human being who was on that roof?
We hold a 5.0 on Google across every review we have ever received, and our customers name the city, the job type, and usually the crew. That is not luck. That is what it looks like when the work is documented and the phone gets answered.
This is where it gets interesting, because there are now referees in this game that no roofer can sweet talk. In August 2026, an independent ranking site scored every roofing contractor in the 91701 zip using public customer review data. GAX Roofing came out ranked #1. We did not enter, we did not pay, and we found out the same way you would have. The ranking exists because the review data exists.
Here is a check that costs you nothing: open ChatGPT or Gemini and ask it who the best roofer in Rancho Cucamonga is. These tools read the same public review data and have no reason to flatter anyone. As of this writing, we like the answer they give. Ask them yourself, today, for your own list of candidates. An AI answer is not gospel, but it is one more referee that nobody bribed.
The best roofer in any city is the one who assumes you will check their work, and builds the proof before you ask. On our jobs that means drone photos before, during, and after, so you see your actual deck and your actual underlayment, not a stock photo. It means a written scope that names the products going on your roof, down to the flashings. And it means a city permit pulled with a receipt, because a roofer who skips the permit is planning for you to never verify anything.
Whoever you hire, ask for all three. The reaction to that question tells you more than any star rating.
A homeowner recently sent me five questions about a tile roof quote that were so good I published my answers word for word. Which flashings are included. How much wood replacement is covered. Whether the tile choice costs extra. Who pays the permit. What the warranty actually covers when a leak shows up. The questions and my answers are here. Take them to every bidder on your list and watch which ones get vague.
And when the bids come back looking wildly different, here is how to compare them line by line so the cheap one has nowhere to hide.
Run the checks. Active C39 with bond and comp. A review record that is recent, specific, and answered. Independent data pointing the same direction the reviews point. Documentation offered before you ask. Straight answers to hard questions, in writing.
I will tell you where we land, because you can verify every word: license C39 #1135657, a 5.0 on Google, ranked #1 in 91701 by independent review data in August 2026, drone documentation on every job, permits pulled with receipts, and a 10 year labor warranty that means you call us and we take care of you. We are not the cheapest bid in this city and we are not trying to be. We are trying to be the one you never have to think about again after the last tile goes down.
Run us through your checklist. That is what it is for.
Free estimate, straight answers, and if you are near a showroom, we might just take a field trip together.
