Straight answers about roofing in the Inland Empire — cost, process, licensing, materials, and what to expect when you work with GAX Roofing.
Cost & Pricing
What Does It Cost?
Most residential roof replacements in the Inland Empire range from $8,000 to $20,000+ depending on square footage, roof type, pitch, and deck condition. We provide a detailed written estimate at no charge after walking the roof with you. Use our roofing cost calculator for a ballpark estimate before you call.
Repairs vary widely depending on the scope — a single pipe boot reseal is very different from replacing a full facet of shingles. We give free estimates on all repairs. Call (909) 910-2720 and we'll come out and tell you exactly what it takes.
The roof tune-up is a flat $997 and covers resealing pipe boots, checking and resealing flashing, clearing gutter debris, air blowing valleys, and replacing up to 5 broken tiles on tile roofs. No add-ons, no surprises. Learn more on the roof tune-up page.
Yes — genuine emergencies carry a 50% premium above standard repair pricing. This reflects the real cost of mobilizing quickly and prioritizing your job. We're transparent about this upfront. If your situation can wait for a standard appointment, we'll tell you that too. Emergency line: (909) 819-8394.
California law caps contractor deposits at 10% of the total job cost or $1,000 — whichever is less. Beyond that, payments must be tied to progress milestones. Any contractor asking for a large upfront payment is either unlicensed or violating the law. We follow this requirement on every job.
Process
What to Expect
We come to you, walk the roof, and give you a written estimate at no charge. Arthur handles every estimate personally. There's a pitch — but we're not going to sit at your house for three hours and grind you down. You get a straight answer and a fair price.
Most residential replacements take 1–3 days depending on size, complexity, and roof type. We give you a realistic timeline at the estimate — not a lowball number to win the job.
We prefer homeowners to be available for the start of the job and the final walkthrough, but you don't need to be on-site all day. We communicate progress and flag anything that needs your input.
Yes, always. Any licensed contractor is required to pull permits for a full replacement. We handle permits and schedule city inspections so you don't have to.
We do a final walkthrough with you, confirm the city inspection is scheduled or complete, and make sure the site is fully cleaned up including a magnet sweep for nails. We don't consider the job done until you've walked it with us.
Licensing & Insurance
Are You Licensed?
A C39 is a California specialty contractor license specifically for roofing. It's different from a general contractor (B) license — a C39 means roofing is all we do. When you hire GAX Roofing you're hiring a dedicated roofing contractor, not a GC who subcontracts the work out.
Yes. GAX Roofing carries $1 million per occurrence general liability insurance and full workers' compensation coverage. Workers' comp is required by law for roofing contractors in California — if a contractor doesn't have it and a worker is injured on your property, the liability can fall on your homeowners insurance.
Look up license #1135657 at cslb.ca.gov. You'll see the license is active, the classification is C39, and the insurance status. We encourage every homeowner to verify every contractor they consider — including us.
A contractor's bond is a form of financial protection for the homeowner. It's required for licensed contractors and serves as insurance on your money — if a contractor takes a deposit and disappears, the bond provides a legal financial backstop. Unlicensed contractors don't carry bonds.
Materials
What Do You Use?
We are certified installers for Owens Corning, GAF, and Malarkey — three of the most trusted shingle manufacturers in the industry. Certified installer status means enhanced warranty eligibility for our customers. We'll recommend the right product for your home's exposure and budget.
We install Eagle Roofing Products — a leading California concrete tile manufacturer built specifically for the Western climate. Eagle tiles are designed to handle the UV exposure, heat cycling, and temperature swings common in the Inland Empire.
We don't do overlays. Shingles installed over existing layers age faster, void manufacturer warranties, and prevent a proper deck inspection. A full tear-off is almost always the better long-term investment. If cost is the concern, we'll talk through options — but we won't do work we don't stand behind.
A radiant barrier is a reflective sheathing material installed under the roofing as part of a full deck replacement (resheet). California's Title 24 energy requirements may require it depending on your roofing material's SRI rating. When we do a full resheet, we use radiant barrier sheathing — it reduces attic heat and helps with energy efficiency in the IE climate.
Insurance Claims
Storm Damage & Claims
Call a roofer first. Having a professional inspection and written damage report before the adjuster visits puts you in a much stronger position. We'll document the damage on your terms with photos and a licensed contractor's assessment. Then file the claim.
Yes. We have experience working directly with adjusters and can be present or available during the adjuster's visit. We also provide written inspection reports that you can submit with your claim or use to support an appeal if a claim was denied or underpaid.
Most standard homeowners policies cover wind damage including Santa Ana wind events. The key is documenting the damage properly. Call us before you file so we can prepare a written report that supports your claim from the start.
